Description: William Andrews Clark, Sr. (1839-1925), also known as the Copper King from Butte, Montana. Montana State Senator, 2 terms, 1899-1900 and 1901-1907. He was known to be one of the 50 richest Americans ever. His son, William A. Clark II, was the founder of the L.A. Philharmonic in 1919. Because of his smelting operations in Arizona, the town was named Clarkdale. Clark County Nevada is also named for Clark because of his railroad operations.
