Description: Flathead Indian Dancers, Pend DOreilles, also known as Salish near Flathead Lake. In the center rear is a man on the left with a large hat, Mose Michelle, the last chief of the Pend DOreilles, who died in 1943. He was the godfather of Verne Dusenberry (1906-1966) who had worked at MSU and U of M, regarded as one of the best teachers of anthropology in the West at that time. Vintage 10x8.5 in. print, 4x5 in. copy negative.
