He made peace in 1867 but other bands continued the war. He died in 1870 before the war ended. Vintage 7x3.5 in. stereograph.

Description: Nelson Story, Sr. (1838-1926). Known as one of Bozeman's richest man, making his fortune in gold in Virginia City. He made a risky cattle drive from Texas to Montana, inspiring the book, "Lonesome Dove." He opened one of Bozeman's first banks, owned a flour mill, was a real estate magnate, and donated land to start Montana Agricultural College. With his son, Walter P, they built the Walter P. Story building in Los Angeles, CA in 1908, one of that city's first skyscrapers. 8x10 in. digital copy print of "Crayon Portrait". Digital TIF master.
